"The alcoholic half-Siamese, El Senor..." "...and the other three cats
Bast, Sheba and Nefertite, Cedric, the Old English sheepdog..."
Also, thanks to Denise on the read-alikes site. Very helpful.

They do, plus two standalones. There's no parrot, but there is El Senor
(the reverse-Siamese who drinks whiskey), Bast, Nefertiti, and another cat,
plus Cedric, the Old English sheepdog. These books are great
police-procedurals and also full of the home lives of the cops. I own them
all. Highly recommended. Shannon also wrote similar series as "Lesley
Egan" (the Vic Varallo and Jesse Falkenstein mysteries) and "Elizabeth
Linington" (Ivor & Sue Maddox).
