I have no idea if this is it because the author is not Italian nor does
her name begin with M. The second book in the series takes place in
Seacrest along the Atlantic and the family's name is Pancoast. The title
is The Doctor makes a DollHouse Call and as mysteries go, I didn't care
for it. But, perhaps this is the book you seek.

Revere Beach Boulevard, Roland Merullo is the first book in a proposed
trilogy. The book covers the life of Peter Imbesalacqua and his extended
Italian family during the period of a few days. Could this be it?
