The Des Plaines Public library serves a community of 55,000 people in the suburbs
north of Chicago. We are a very busy library, expanding into a new four story,
80,000 square foot building in June 2000. We are seeking friendly book lovers for
full time and part time Library Assistants for the new Readers' Services
department. Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience and training required.
Must have knowledge of popular fiction, music and movies. Duties include staffing
the public desk, creating bibliographies and displays, and leading book discussions.

Part time positions are 20 hours a week, including evenings and weekends, salary beginning at
