The series in question is an action-adventure syndicated one, which is
usually broadcast on Saturdays or Sundays, often at odd hours. The series is
called "Peter Benchley's Amazon."

<< Did anyone figure out if the television show "Amazon" was actually based
on a book by Peter Benchley? Or is there going to be a book series based
on the TV show? One of our branch librarians asked me this today, and
of course, I couldn't remember what I had read on the list!
>>
"Amazon" was created by Peter Benchley for the syndicated TV show. I watched
the opening credits of the show this past Sunday and it says, "Created by
Peter Benchley." It is NOT based on a book. There mayb well be a book,
however, based on the syndicated series, which is called "Peter Benchley's
Amazon." The book will be written not by Benchley, but by somone else. I
suspect (with no proof) that the form of the title - Peter Benchley's Amazon
is purposely similar to Benchleys's White Shark, which was re-titled, "Peter
Benchley's Creature." There is a web site for the show,
http://www.benchleysamazon.com/home.htm Perhaps you could email them and ask
if there ever was an original Peter Benchley book. But I really don't think
there was.
