I remember reading a children's book sometime around 1976-1980 that I would
like to read again. The only thing I remember about it is that the main
character used to go to a warehouse or abandoned building and do clay
sculptures that somehow affect real life. The book was a chapter book,
probably between 4th and 6th grade reading level. Sorry this is so sketchy,
but maybe someone will remember. This is not the movie "Heavenly
Creatures", which also has some clay sculpture scenes.

Does this ring a bell with anyone?
