As my partner Nora Armstrong mentioned, we have an adult summer reading
club here at Cumberland County called Summer Splash. Last year we did
give away coffee mugs with the logo of the club and the library's logo.

It was popular; mugs always are. This year, we have chosen a wipe-off
memo board that can be put on a refrigerator. I think that will be
popular (and pretty cheap). Another popular premium from several years
ago was a keychain with a light in it. I saw many people carrying one
around town after that summer program had ended.

We have had about 2500+ adults register for the club, with a completion
rate of maybe 20%. Last year, we gave away about 800 of the coffee mugs
at all locations.

Nora and I will be presenting a program on Summer Splash at PLA on Friday
morning called The Long Hot Summer. We would like to invite you to bring
sample of materials from other adult reading
clubs in other libraries. We would love to see what other libraries have
been doing.
