I'm not sure of the title described, but here are a couple of really good
YA vampire/werewolf stories:
Annette Curtis Klause
Silver Kiss - Chloe, dealing with her mother's cancer illness,
meets Simon during one of her late night walks. These two strike up an
unlikely friendship, unlikely because Simon is a vampire. Together they
try to stop the vicious murders taking place...murders being committed by
Simon's younger brother, another vampire.
Blood and Chocolate - an urban werewolf tale, set in suburbia D.C.
A werewolf pack loses it leader and relocates to D.C. in disarray. In the
midst of the pack trying to find a new leader, the teen daughter of the
last leader tries to fit in in a new environmetn and a new school.
VandeVelde, Vivian
Companions of the Night - A teen finds herself in cahoots with a
vampire, running from vampire killers who think she is a vampire. (Got
that?) She knows she doesn't want to be a vampire, but she feels an
attraction to her comapnion...can she keep a distance?
There are more, but these are some that have gone over really well with
kids when I reccommend them.

<< Hi,
A high schooler who doesn't read very much, told me one book she really
liked was about a girl who fell in love with a guy who she didn't know was
a vampire and had to kill him in the end to give him peace. She wanted
other books like this. I thought of Anne Rice but feel hers are a little
too "old" for her. It is not a field I know very much about. Can anyone
make any suggestions about titles or authors?

Carole -
There are a couple of very nice vampire short stories that come to mind.
One, I think, is by William Tenn, and may be called, "She only comes out at
night." The other was published in The Magazine of Fantasy and Science
Fiction, and involved using the vampire's blood to cure a fatal disease,
which I think was AIDS, or something like it. It's here somewhere in the
morass of my collection. I'll contact you if I can get more specific.

Your patron might also enjoy Mary Stewart's A WALK IN WOLF WOOD, the story
of a brother & sister of today become involved in the rescue of a werewolf in
