Hi! I am trying to locate distributors of fiction written in Gujarati,
Hindi, and Urdu. I tried Literary Market Place, but for one reason or
another, the leads in there did not prove fruitful. If anyone out there
knows where to obtain titles in these languages, I would appreciate hearing
from you. Thank you. :-)

Here in New Jersey, Newark Public Library offers multilingual materials in just
about every language you can think of to libraries statewide. This department
is called MultiMAC (Multilingual Materials Acquisition Center). I am sure they
would be able to provide you with the kinds of sources you seek. Their phone

I have on my desk a beautiful catalog from Multicultural Books and Videos
(<A HREF="http://www.multiculbv.com/">http://www.multiculbv.com/</A>) which includes children's and adult
materials, books, magazines, videos, large print and more in several
Indic languages.. We have not ordered from them yet, so I can't speak to
their delivery process. Our head of children's met the president at ALA
last year and was very impressed with him.

Since we are in the Chicago suburbs we have many local choices for Indian
and Pakistani bookstores. I'm sure that some of them would be willing to
arrange terms with you to purchase and ship books. The real trick is
getting transliterated cataloging information! And I mean a three-hat trick.
