In the Forests of the Night, Anne Atwater-Rhodes (YA)
At Play in the Fields of the Lord, Peter Matthiessen
Enchanted Forests, ed. Kerr & Greenberg (a thematic fantasy collection, one
of an excellent and highly recommended series of same)
Jennifer Roberson's Chronicles of the Cheysuli (a fantasy series about a
race of shapechangers who live in, and in close harmony with, the forest)
Forest Blood, Jeff Golden
The Word for World is Forest, Ursula K. LeGuin
Midworld & Mid-Flinx, Alan Dean Foster (about a planet of immense trees in
whose upper layer live the slightly mutated remnants of a lost human colony)

Sometimes a Great Notion, Ken Kesey (about a logger)

A Matter of Roses by David Manuel- mystery- Participants and judges in a
rose competition are the suspects when the sponsor is murdered.
Environmentalists vs land developers also plays a part in the plot.
The Poyson Garden by Karen Harper- Elizabethan mystery- A young
Elizabeth must race to stop an herbalist turned poisoner out for
revenge. They must also foil a plot to kill thousands with poisoned
grain.
Wildest Hearts by Jayne Ann Krentz- romance- Oliver, the romantic lead,
studied to become a botanist before turning to business to save the
family finances. He now raises rare ferns in his greenhouse as a hobby.
The greenhouse is the setting for many of the scenes, including a
pivotal part of the scene where they catch the bad guy, and he also
discusses the details of raising ferns.
