I just finished "Girl with a Pearl Earring" by Tracy Chevalier. I
ordered it from a review source not knowing too much about it.
The story is woven around an actual painting by Dutch painter,
J Vermeer. Little is known about his actual life and the author
weaves a story around the painting
"Girl with a earl Earring."
It is a small book that gives insight into the art and culture
of the period. It has discussion questions on the Penguin site
and I feel would make a good discussion title. I really loved the
story. Anybody feel the same?? Just thought I would share.

I couldn't let this one go by.... I enjoyed "Girl with a pearl..." very much. But I found this one after I had read "Girl in Hyacinth Blue" by Susan Vreeland, which led me to "The music lesson" by Katharine Weber. So what's with all the fiction having to do with Vermeer? They are all totally different books, enjoyable in their own way.
