Talking about the book Under the Skin made me think that it would be great
to do a list of books that have surprise endings. Does anyone have any
suggestions? I'll take fiction or nonfiction, and I'll compile the list.

Could we include short stories, too? I'm think of Frank Stockton's "The Lady

I totally agree. I still have nightmares. I didn't
go see the movie because I know it could never have
been done as well as the book. I even bought the book
for two of my kids, both adults. I told them it had
gory and other parts they shouldn't think their mother
approved of. ;-].
