A patron asked one of our librarians for the title of a book with
the following info: a murderer named Raymond Raintree kidnaps a little girl,
kills her, and hangs her by a fishing pole. Patron thought the author's
name was Nancy Pacard. That name sounds familiar, but I've tried different
spellings with no luck. Tried our database and Novelist, struck out again.
Does anyone have an idea? TIA

There is a mystery writer named Nancy Pickard, but the plot you describe
doesn't seem to fit any of her books that I have available to examine. And
it sounds too gruesome for her usual semi-cozy style. But perhaps her
series is why the name sounds familiar to you.

The mystery writer you're seeking is Nancy Pickard, not Pacard. She's
written quite a few books. The book you're seeking is THE WHOLE TRUTH. To
see a review, try the following URL. The review is by Lesa Holstine, a
Fiction-L-er
http://www.edsbookreview.com/mystery/pickard_whole_truth.html
BTW - found the answer using good ol' dogpile.com. I used Nancy Pickard 's
name and the character's name. It came up with several reviews, among other
things.
