I have a mystery for all the collective wisdom out there:

A patron remembers reading a book to her children years ago. It is a
Native American story which parallels the Cinderella story. She remembers
that there were three evil "stepsisters" and that there were pictures. She
read it to them in second & third grades.

I'm sorry that it's not much to go on, but you guys always amaze me.

I am not sure if this is exactly it but you might want to check "The
Rough-Face Girl" by Rafe Martin. Out catalog says: "In this Algonquin
Indian version of the Cinderella story, the Rough-Face Girl and her two
beautiful but heartless sisters compete for the affections of the
Invisible Being."
