Hi All!
Here's a doozie. We are looking for an author who has written for Vanity
Fair for many years and who is also a photographer. In the 50's and 60's he
hung around with the American elite - Peter Lawford, the Kennedys, etc. He
wrote true stories about the Hollywood hotshots at the time but had to
disguise his work as fiction in order to protect himself from the mob
and/or the rich families he was writing about. He has also written an
autobiography. Do you have any idea who this American man might be?

Dominick Dunne has written for Vanity Fair. He did hang around Hollywood
etc. for a while and has written The Way We Lived Then: Recollections of a
Well-Known Name Dropper. He has also included many photographs that he
took. Could this be the person that you are looking for?

This might be Dominic Dunne. I don't think he is known for his photography,
but therest fits. If I am remembering correctly he had a book of snapshots
of famous people at famous parties published. Sort of a scrapbook of his
life among the rich and famous.
