During the last meeting of our book discussion group, a member recalled a
treasured book from her childhood. She remembers only that the story was
about a stick doll whose name is Martha Jane.

My estimate is that her childhood would be 45-60 years ago.

I have searched WorldCat and LOC using her information as keywords;and,
using the subject heading "Dolls--Fiction" to no avail.

Any assistance in tracking down the author/title of this book would be
greatly appreciated.

There is a Newbery Award book about a stick doll entitled Miss Hickory.
It was first published in 1946. The author was Carolyn Sherwin Bailey.
