Can anyone identify this book? A patron believes this Science Fiction book
included Quantum Theory and the terms "seed ships" and New Ark" The ships
had ice cones on them. It was probably published in the 80's. The Earth is
dying and they send these "seed ships" into the galaxy. I hope this rings a
bell with someone.

I think this might be Arthur C. Clarke's The Songs of Distant
Earth.

I haven't seen a reply to this one, so I'll try. It sounds like Orson
Scott Card's "Ships Of Earth" series. There are 3 or 4 books, all
titles ending with "of earth". Its been a while since I read them, so I
don't remember the chronology exactly, but the storyline seems to fit.
Ships were sent out to seed other planets, and the memories of earth are
built into the people. They feel a call to return to earth, and the
series eventually brings them "home" to earth.
