wrote gentle tales about 30 to 50 years ago. That's all the information she

The list does not include Fred Chappell, a poet and fiction writer, who is
also a professor at UNC-Greensboro. He has written a number of outstanding
novels with North Carolina mountain settings. And don't forget John Ehle who
has also written a number of novels, also with mountain settings. Ruth Moose
is another NC author of note.

I'd assume the list does not include Chappell because he was not
writing "gentle tales 30 to 50 years ago," which is the description
of the author sought--see below.

(I like Chappell, but while some of his stuff is amusing none is what
I think of as gentle and some, such as DAGON, quite the opposite.
And I don't think his career goes back thirty years, and certainly not
fifty...)
