We have a patron who would like to find an author
from North Carolina who wrote gentle tales about 30 to
50 years ago. That's all the information she
remembers. Any Suggestions?

I'd assume the list does not include Chappell because he was not
writing "gentle tales 30 to 50 years ago," which is the description
of the author sought--see below.
(I like Chappell, but while some of his stuff is amusing none is what
I think of as gentle and some, such as DAGON, quite the opposite.
And I don't think his career goes back thirty years, and certainly not
fifty...)
