Help! Can anyone identify this novel? A young man (possibly from a
wealthy background) is a student at the University of Michigan. He has
a water-skiing accident and his life is saved by a spare tank of
oxygen. He decides to become a doctor. He becomes a doctor but still
feels the need for guidance. He is befriended by a sculptor in Detroit
(loosely based on the sculptor Marshall Fredericks) who takes him in and
helps him. The only other piece of information I have is that a quote
from Galatians is central to the story. Patron says that her friend
listened to this as an audio book.

Sounds just like "Magnificent Obsession" by Lloyd Douglas to me!

This almost reminds me of Lloyd C. Douglas' The Magnificent Obsession -
except for the part about the sculptor.

I'm pretty sure it is not Magnificent Obsession because the publication date
is way too old. The sculptor part is crucial because the patron who is
looking for this is the real life sculptor's daughter. This is why she is
trying to identify the book.
