Has anyone ever located Missing Persons, by David Cook, the book on which
the PBS Mystery Series sleuth Hetty Wainthropp is based? With the series
running again, I've had patron requests. There's nothing listed on Amazon,
Amazon UK, or the PBS Shop.

I checked FirstSearch, and there are over 50 libraries that own this book so
you ought to be able to borrow it. (Excuse me if the original request was
to purchase it.) In Illinois the only 2 libraries I see listed are Northern
Illinois University and Northwestern University.

I tried <Amazon.co.uk> and used David Cook as a search term. This was the
second time I tried. The first was through Dogpile.com, which led me to the
same result: an audio tape of Missing Persons, evidently narrated by Patricia
Routledge, who plays Hetty. I've found no evidence of the book, as yet.
There's also supposed to be a British site called Bookpages, but I couldn't
get onto it. BTW - the British Amazon site lists the tape (1996) as "on
order."

Duh.

Have you tried either http://www.bookfinder.com or http://www.abebooks.com?
We have had great success at finding out-of-print books from these sources.
I have used abebooks on numerous occasions on a personal level as well. And
don't forget e-bay as a last resort.
