I'm trying to find the title of a mystery, published between 1980 and
1988. A woman who plays in a symphony orchestra is approached by a
mysterious stranger and given some sheet music to practice - her part
(bass? cello?) only; and then given an all-expenses paid trip to a hotel
in Europe to get together with the rest of the players. The man behind
all this has found Beethoven's 10th symphony, and has gathered his own
personal orchestra to play it for him; after which he plans to kill them
all. Ring any bells? Thanks!
