I "struggle" with suspense vs. thriller vs. spy story, sometimes. I
use suspense stickers rather "heavy handedly" by having that
sticker cover all 3. And how about those pesky "science fantasy"
books? (That may have frittered away somewhat, but publishers
used to write that on the spine where they also write fiction,
romance, etc.)
I'd like "Contemporary Western" and "Old West Western" or
somesuch. And we probably should have a "Oprah Book Club"
sticker, too ;-)! I'm sure there are more -- just don't have them in
hand right now. BYE!

I made up some of my own for our library, because we keep them all together
at the bottom of our new book shelf. It is much easier to point patrons to
the whole collection and say "This is what is in of the Oprah picks, we can
put you on a reserve list for anything that is not there.
The sticker I made is a large "O" with the letters 'prah" written inside.
Think I can copyright it? :-)

I want stickers for books in a series to indicate their order. :)
Mystery series, romance series, westerns - anything that has continuing
characters. I hate to read a book and then find out it's in the middle
of a series. Just a little number sticker, or maybe on the spine label,
or... :)
I spend a good bit of time looking up series information for patrons.
I'd love to make it easier for them as well.

Of course, the most effective and quickest ways to solve this problem are to:
1. Keep a notebook at the desk with chronologies I have created or scrounged
somewhere, alphabetically by author.
2. Create bookmarks listing all the books in a series which patrons can
take away with them. You obviously can't do this for every author, but I
have found it invaluable for many fantasy series like the Xanth books, which
go on and on, and stuff like the Patrick O'Brian books where I can't make
myself memorize more than the first in the series no matter how hard I try....
We could, of course, cover every book with stickers to help us do our jobs,
but then someone will want to find a read-a-like based on some really
obscure characteristic we haven't thought of, and we will be back to square one!
