A patron was asking for novels for her 11-year-old girl who would like to
start reading "grown-up" books. (I hesitate to use the word "adult" for
fear of being misunderstood). I came up with a few, but know that there are
many of you out there who can come up with more for the next time the patron
comes in. I will be happy to compile the list. The ones I came up with
(and they are not all novels) are:
Jane Eyre - Charlotte Bronte
Little Women - Louisa May Alcott
To Kill a Mockingbird - Harper Lee
The Count of Monte Cristo and The Three Musketeers - Alexandre Dumas
Travels with Charley - John Steinbeck
The Flame Trees of Thika - Elspeth Huxley
Thanks in advance.
