Subject: orphanage book (fwd)
We had a customer last week who is trying to find a
book she read as a girl. She described it as a young
adult book but judging by her age (I did not ask) I
don't think we classified books young adult when she
read this. Anyway it was about a boy who was taken out
of an abusive family situation and was put into an
orphanage. In the orphanage his greatest joy was
tending the roses. Later he is adopted by a rich lady
and goes to live with her. Not much to go on except
she said it was a small book.

Could it be "The lottery rose," by Irene Hunt? A brief glance at my son's
copy over the weekend verifies some of the major plot points, but I
haven't read the whole thing yet.
