A stumper to start off the New Year, at least for me...

A patron remembers hearing of a mystery author whose mysteries are set in
Northern California. The protagonist is an environmentalist. There are
at least two books in the series, and she thinks they are fairly
recent...any ideas?

Your patron may be thinking of Skye Kathleen Moody's series featuring Venus
Diamond. They are set in the Pacific Northwest and she is an agent with
the Dept. of Interior - Fish and Wildlife division. Each book deals with
different endangered species.

There are three books by Rebecca Rothenberg:
The bulrush murders
The dandelion murders
The shy tulip murders
All feature Claire Sharples. Unfortunately, these will be the only three.
Rebecca passed away recently.

could this be Marsha Muller's stuff? They are set in Northern California,
and Hy Rypinsky, Sharon MaCone's lover, starts out as an environmentalist
(or at least his late wife was) in the first couple of books where he is
introduced.

I know this one is a stretch.
