Main character is a woman; the story spans her life from the time of her
marriage to her old age. She is originally from Norway, she and her
husband move to England or the USA, she has two daughters, one of whom
becomes a famous author, the other marries a government official, has her
picture in the paper, and then starts getting letters saying she is not
really her mother's daughter. Patron thinks the title may have 2 words,
one of which is a street/location in England (or maybe the USA)

This sounds like "Anna's Book" by Barbara Vine.
