author is an African American (may be) and a picture of Martin Luther King
is on the cover. I recall the book, but not the title or the author (it

Sounds like "The King Of Babylon Shall Not Come Against You" by George
Garrett but that title was published in 1996.

What did we do before FL, the most valuable REF source for Fiction
folks??
YES the book patron wanted was DREAMER by Charles Johnson.
