I deleted the message before I registered who asked, etc. But for the
person who inquired about the suspenseful river crossing,etc. book. At
first thought it sounds like the first book in the Mrs. Pollifax series
The Unexpected Mrs. Pollifax, by D. Gilman. (But it's been quite a while
since I read it -- I remember the escape scene at the end, altho' I think
it involved a larger lake rather than a river.) Good book regardless.
