We got a request from one of our branches for a teen patron who was
looking for a short story called "So Much Depends on the Red Tent"
Unfortunately he didn't know the author and the story was from a school
lit book called "Journals" The only other thing we know is that it
possibly has something to do with motorcycles.

After searching in Humanities Index, Short Story Index, Contemporary
Authors, Books in Print, Survey of Short Fiction, and Short Story
Criticism....I'm stumped, any takers?

I don't know if this is any help, but this sounds
a lot like William Carlos Williams' *poem* about
the red wheelbarrow:

so much depends
upon

a red wheel
barrow

glazed with rain
water

beside the white
chickens

I think it gets anthologized a lot in school lit
readers....Just a thought

Actually, the title reminds me of a short William Carlos Williams poem:
"So much depends on a red wheelbarrow glazed with rain water beside the
white chickens"
Don't know if that's what they were really looking for or not.
