We have a patron who is very interested in anything fictional and/or
historical about the Bitterroot Mountains in Montana, with special focus
or plot thread on Native American culture and tradition. He mentioned a
book he'd read and enjoyed he thought by Ivan Doig, but he wasn't
positive about the author and didn't recall the title--we haven't had
any luck there. I believe his interest was sparked by the movie, "Last
of the Dogmen." We would be very grateful for any leads you may offer.

Jane, there is a new book that seems to be very popular in Montana, esp.
for Christmas giving. Don't know if it will fit your patron's bill, but
be worth looking into. (I haven't read it, only "spot read" our copy when
it came in.)

On Lasercat is listed "In the Heart of the Bitterroot Mountains: the story
of the Carlin hunting party" by Himmelright. cc1993, 1985.

Jamie Harrison writes about Montana and about Native Americans but I'm not
sure that the Bitterroots are included. Books like "The Edge of the
Crazies" and "Blue Deer Thaw" are included. Another book I enjoyed about
Kalispell and Native Americans was "Blood Ties" by Brouwer. Jeanne

Jane, there is a newish book that has become quite popular in Montana, at
