Has anyone heard of an Audiobook of the Month Club where you can rent
audiobooks rather than buy them?

I don't know about a book of the month type program, but Recorded Books
has a rental program that allows a one-month rental period. Find out

I should have been more specific in my original question about the audiobook
of the month club. This is not for a library but for a patron. It would be
similar to wine of the month club or cigar of the month club in that you
could buy a whole year's worth as a gift for someone. Anyone know of any?

Try calling the audio book rental places and see what they can offer you. I
found them to be very accommodating and would probably love to hear about what
you are looking for. They do rent to the general public so it shouldn't be a
problem.
