Have a young patron who was told there's a video version of Robb White's
novel "Deathwatch" which I can't find in Maltin's "Movie & Video Guide."
Anyone know whether there is a video and if so, if it was produced under a
different name than the novel?

FYI this is a young adult novel described as a college boy "needing
money for school... accepts a job on a desert hunting trip and nearly
loses his life."

According to the Internet Movie Database, Deathwatch was made under the
title "Savages" in 1974. Robb White is credited as the author.

The video is called "Savages"; it was made for television in 1974, directed by

Lee H. Katzin, co-scripted by Robb White and William Wood, and starred Noah
Beery Jr. and Andy Griffith. It's listed in "Videohound's Golden Movie
Retriever, 1999".
