A patron is trying to find a science fiction book he once had which he
says shared features to that of Sagan's "Contact." The patron says the
book had religious overtones based upon an encounter with aliens. It,
too, begins with the 1936 Olympics and with Hitler's televised
broadcast. The book concludes with the aliens sending back the result
of dividing Pi by two and then producing a digitized religious symbol as
a result of this calculation.
Our staff has so far come up empty-handed in identifying this other
book. If anyone might have any leads we would appreciate hearing from
you on this list. We'll stay tuned, and thank you.

Did Arthur C. Clarke write a book called "Rama
Did Arthur C. Clarke write a book called "Rama" or "Return to Rama" with
an alien contact to earth via a satellite or asteroid? (or something?)
The reason I mention it is that when I read it, I was intrigued by the
aliens' appearance (or lack of) until the end half of the book. They
were discribed as the "classic" description of the devil (hence the
religious connection).
Anyway, that might be way off. Hope you find the *real answer*! BYE!
