One of the nonfiction reference librarians asked me today if I would post a
question on my list where they have all the great ideas and answers. I told
her we were an RA group but sure! (She is a voracious fiction reader and I
wish I had her in my department). Anyway we are trying to give our telephone
reference area a snappy name to get people to remember it and call the
library. We have a main number and lots of extensions so basically people
can call in for anything at that number and it will get routed to the
appropriate desk. Do any of you have anything like that or have any ideas??
We've been really down in our ref questions and we need some PR ideas. Also
how late are you open in the evenings at your libraries? We have 9PM in the
winter and 8PM in the summer but it has been deadly quiet here from 8 -9PM.
There is talk of extending summer to 9 but I think we will fall asleep.
More's the pity but..they ain't coming in like they used to. Anybody do 8 or
8:30am openings?
