Would you please give some ideas for Harry Potter readalikes? We're
actually interested in children and adult titles, if they are similar.

I searched the archives because I thought we'd dealt with this, but can't
seem to find anything. I'll be glad to post a list when completed.

The Lee County Library System did a bookmark for
Fantasy Series similar to the Harry Potter series.

Circle of Magic series by Tamora Pierce (which the
kids told us reminded them of the Harry Potter books)

The Chronicles of Narnia by C.S. Lewis

The Dark is Rising series by Susan Cooper

Enchanted Forest series by Patricia Wrede

His Dark Materials series by Philip Pullman

The Prydain Chronicles by Lloyd Alexander

The Redwall series by Brian Jacques

The Time Trilogy by Madeleine L'Engle

CSpan 2, I think, televised J.K. Rowling's visit to the National Press
Club. She recommended anything by Philip Pullman, Skellig by David Almond
and hoped that there might a resurgence of interest in E. Nesbit. Jane
Yolen's Wizard's Hall might also be a good start as well as Patricia
Wrede's Dealing with Dragon series.

The Phillip Pullman series that includes THE GOLDEN COMPASS
and THE SUBTLE KNIFE are much more serious than
HARRY POTTER. They are superb but not like
Harry at all.
