I do most of the fiction displays here at my library, and while I have enough ideas to get me through the rest of the year, I am running out of good ideas. I will reuse displays that have gone over well, but would like some fresh ideas to start the new year.
So, if you could, please tell me about your favorite displays that you have done - your most successful displays, or just ones that your thought were particularly clever or fun. That is if you are willing to share the idea with me!
TIA
Erin

Earlier this year we did a display called "Debut Novels" which was fist
novels that had been published in the last year or so. It was very
successful. We used the lists of "First Novelists" that are published in
Publishers Weekly off and on throughout the year to compile a list of the
titles that we actually owned in our collection and displayed them on an
end panel in Adult Fiction with a big sign saying "Debut Novels" "Be the
first one to read the next hot authors!" (Or something like that.)
Enjoy!

A couple of our more successful displays this year have been a "staff picks"
display. I made up a form, and asked staff to submit their favorite
fiction. Lots of books checked out from that display.
I also did a display of ethnic cookbooks (not fiction, I know) in conjuction
with ethinic foods month and the multicultural festival here in Springfield.
It went over well, also.
Next month I'm planning a display of books into movies--yes, I got the idea
from good ol' Fiction_L! I hope it will go over well--we've never done this
particular display before.
Hope this helps! (I'm hoping to get some new ideas, too!)

I love new display ideas myself. Two fun ones we did here were
Short Stories for a Short Month (February)
March to the Music (March) - we included all types of music books, fiction
& non fiction, bio, etc.
