-1998 publication
-male author who has a background in the Navy
-about a man, a boat and two women friends
-set on the East coast
-no other type of genre except general fiction
-hardback and the cover (I know how you love these) is either pale yellow or beige with painting of a good sized sail boat.
-it is NOT "Message in a Bottle" by Nicholas Sparks because she compared the two herself, stating that they came out the same year and had slightly similar plots.
This is as much as I could get out of her. See what you can do. I had no luck with Novelist, Amazon or our own database.
Thanks so much,

Hi there,
Here we go with another challenging search but I'll take the chance that
someone out there can help me.
A patron called me inquiring about a book which she had once purchased
but then decided to return because she didn't have time to read it. Now
she wants to find it again but remembers very little (and I mean, very
little) about it. Here's what she does know:
-1998 publication
-male author who has a background in the Navy
-about a man, a boat and two women friends
-set on the East coast
-no other type of genre except general fiction
-hardback and the cover (I know how you love these) is either pale

Dear Robin,
Just letting you know that your speedy response was right on the nose
with "WHITE WINGS". The patron was so very impressed. She had searched
high and low, talking to various book stores, with no results. But then
they didn't have this fabulous resource! I want to thank you personally
because this was my first use of FictionL for patron assistance and it was
a smashing success. Happy Reading!
Tessa
