1. This one I read at least 15 years ago, was probably published in the early 80's. It's a novel about a divorce
attorney and all the different cases he takes on - one in particular stood out. An elderly woman crippled with MS
comes to him to try to get support from her wealthy doctor ex-husband; the attorney discovers that the ex knew about
her MS (long before she did) and divorced her because of it. I had thought that "attorney" or "divorce" was part of
the title, but have searched our catalog for every combination of the terms I can think of, to no avail.
2. This one was more recent, probably published since 1992. A struggling costume/set designer in Hollywood inherits
a huge mansion in New York. When she flies back to explore the house (with the idea of selling it), she discovers
her grandmother's diary, and then the book flips back and forth, from her grandmother's life to hers. The set
designer wanders from room to room, sketching ideas for a movie she's hoping to be hired on, and dreaming of winning
the Oscar for her designs.
Thanks a lot! I await with anticipation the ideas of this great collective brain!

I've just joined this listserve and have found it to be fascinating
reading. I wonder if you could help me find two
books I remember reading:
