How about Breakthrough by Ken Grimwood, A woman gets a little elctrode
inplanted in her brain to treat a medical problem, and controls it with a
little remote control. As well as treated her medical problem, it allows
her to watch a particular point in Victorian england eventually she tries
to communicate with the people in the past.
