Hi,
I have a patron who is trying to remember books she read as a child in
the 1950s...she remembers that there were twins in the stories (Not the
Bobbseys Twins!), they had all sorts of adventures and she thinks the
stories would have been written in the 50s. Any ideas?

She might be thinking of the Twins series, by Lucy Fitch Perkins, published c. 1910. They were still in many public libraries in the 1950s. Each book was sent in a different country, and concerned a different pair of twins: THE ESKIMO TWINS, THE DUTCH TWINS, etc.

Sorry I deleted the original message so I am replying to this one. Another
possibility could be the series in the late 40s, early 50s by Barbara
Brenner concerning fraternal twins, Michael and Elena Garcia, who had
mystery solving adventures. The two titles were: Mystery of the
Disappearing Dogs and The Mystery of the Plumed Serpent. I couldn't think
of any others except for the Bobbsey Twins!! Hope that helps!

there is a series of books by Lucy Fitch Perkins about twins (usually
about 10-12yr old) from different countries - Irish Twins, Dutch Twins,
Japanese Twins, etc. Some were more adventurous than others. They were
actually written much longer ago (early 1910's/1920's ?), but they have
been reprinted quite a bit. Used book stores have them sometimes.
