I have a patron looking for a video of a presentation of Shakespeare's
Richard III. The unique part of the question is that it has been reset
during World War II, he belives, because there are Nazis in it. I'm not
sure if the title acknowledges either Shakespeare or Richard III.

Does this ring a bell with anyone so that we can ILL it for him? I'm still
looking but thought someone might recognize it.

I believe this would be "Richard III" starring Ian McKellen, a British
film from 1995, available on video. It is set in 1930s London and
features Black Shirt thugs, but based on Shakespeare's play.

The movie the patron wants is the 1995 "Richard III", with Ian McKellan in
the title role. Also in the cast are Annette Bening and Robert Downey. I
believe it was nominated for at least one Academy Award. If you haven't
seen it, you really should--it was excellent.
Our library's copies are from MGM/UA Home Video, [1996], c1995. I would
think some library in your area must own it.

I am almost sure the title is Richard III and it starred Ian McKellan and Annettee Benning. It was set in Britain during the 1930s. It came out some time in the last five years.
