A patron is looking for a book she read 20 years ago about a man sent to
Australia, possibly a convict, who , in a drunken state, wrote a letter
of proposal to a woman, but got her name wrong. The woman with the wrong
name came to visit him and eventually they fell in love. Thanks for any

This sounds very similar to Green Dolphin Street by Elizabeth Goudge written
in, I believe, 1944. It was made into a over-done melodrama with Lana
Turner as the sister who Van Heflin marries and Donna Reed as the sister he
really loves.
