Jeanne M. Dams has an amateur sleuth named Hilda Johansson, a Swedish immigrant domestic. The title " Death in lacquer red" takes place in South Bend, Indiana at the turn of the century. Our topics include Murder Investigations, Drownings, Immigrants, and Prejudice. The setting is the Studebaker Estate.

This could be Hilda Johansen (sp)--the heroine in a new mystery series by Jeanne
M. Dams. The series is set in South Bend, IN at the time of the Studebakers.

Incidentally, we just had Jeanne Dams, Barbara D'Amato, Hugh Holton, and Mark
Richard Zubro appear at our library doing their "Dillinger Gang Rides Again"
presentation, and they were terrific!!!
