Hello all, I hope to draw on your collective knowledge to answer this
question:

A patron is looking for a short story collection published early this year
by a woman and she's fairly certain it's the writer's first
collection. In the first story, the character's boyfriend turns into a
series of decreasingly sophisticated anaimals (something like gorilla to
slug). Sound familiar to anyone?
