Welcome

  Volunteering Opportunities at the Library

When the Morton Grove Public Library first opened in 1938, it was staffed by volunteers. Today, volunteeers assist the professional Library staff in a wide range of day-to-day operations, including short-term as well as long-term, ongoing commitments; here are just a few of the possibilities:

  • reading to young children
  • assisting with craft projects
  • helping patrons with reading programs
  • assisting the professional library staff with book processing
  • clerical assistance: duplicating flyers and handouts for educational programs, assembling packets
  • tabulating surveys
  • assisting with large mailing projects
  • serving as movie monitors
  • setting up special events and serving as host/hostess
  • delivering books to nursing home residents

To become a Library Volunteer, pick up an application form at the Library's Reference Services Desk, or print out the PDF version. Completed forms can be dropped off at the Reference Services Desk, or mailed to

The Program Coordinator will contact you to schedule an interview and to discuss current openings.

Thank you!
